Being a senior

By Austyn Coleman
Seniors all around the world are looking forward to one thing… Graduation. Even though they have all just started their senior year they are looking forward to the big day where they get to walk across the stage, get their diploma and be done. But before that day comes they have the whole year to look forward to; The checklist of things to get to graduation is what makes being a senior so fun.
You start with your last first day. “I was happy before but then it came time for the actual last first day and I was sad that it was the start to a end,” said senior Nyah House. While Nyah was sad others like Jayla Parks and Mallorie Bryson felt joyful, “We were excited and happy,” they said.
After the first few days time starts to run together, you start with being at school for days then weeks then months fly by. In this short period of time you realize something: it really is all coming to an end. While every senior realizes it differently, but they all realize it. The athletes have their last season, the clubs have their last meetings, even those who aren’t an athlete or who are in a club have the last times of walking in the classroom and being with their friends.
You make it to Christmas break and a new year: 2027. After hearing for the past 13 years ‘The class of 2027’ it's here. 6 months left and you are done. Back to school you go this time the senioritis hits, you do what you have to to get by but you are ready to be done. But something is different, you have your friends but also you start to go out of your comfort zone you make other
friends and all these people you have known your whole life, friends or not, have all become a whole friend group. With everyone the weeks go by fast and you all do the activities of a typical senior- senior skip day, senior prank and prom.
Then you staring the last month in the face. Sports banquets, honors banquet, (the place where you get cords), College signing, Graduation.
It’s here the night before graduation. You have your gown hanging with your cords, metals and stole. You stare at it, it stares back; 13 years have led you to this moment and finally it has come. In less than 24 hours you will walk across the stage, receive your diploma and wont look back.
The class of 2027 your lives will change. As each of you go your separate ways, some to college, some to work, and some to travel. To each senior, Good Luck, this year is coming but also its going, faster then you realize.
